A 20-year veteran in radio, Chris Loos has worked in the top markets in the country and interviewed the likes of Eminem, Xzibit, The Black Eyed Peas, and Kelis. Currently, Loos is the host of the “Afternoon Ride” on the AV's Old School 93.5 airing Monday through Friday 2PM-6PM.
Loos began his radio career 18 years ago at Pasadena City College, after learning that his college radio station had been unused for year, he reached out to his professor Doug Johnson and they both launched the station. His show intros and artist drops are still part of the curriculum in the broadcasting department at the college. During college, Chris got an internship with Rick Dees & Ellen K. at 102.7 KIIS-FM by calling the front desk and taking his resume in while attending PCC.
Word of Chris’ work ethic, reached Julio G., who then hired him on 92.3 The Beat KKBT-FM as the Show Producer for the “Original Mixmaster”. The Hip Hop Legend KRS-One then brought Chris on board his “Temple of Hip Hop” show as the show producer. “Producing the Temple of Hip Hop with KRS-One was AMAZING!! He's one of the most prolific MC's ever, and was one of the coolest guys I've ever met.” Because of Chris’ knowledge and passion for radio and Hip Hop, KRS-One allowed him to grow with the show, and was at one point co hosting the show.
When he was ready for his own show, Chris took over the late night shift at Hot 94.1 in Bakersfield, CA. After gaining #1 ratings, he moved over to Hot 92 Jamz in L.A. with the SoundLab Mix Show on Friday nights. Chris then took his career to the next level by becoming the Program Director for a start-up station called WILD 96.1 in San Bernardino, CA. After helping build the station from scratch, he took over the midday slot and quickly developed a strong fan base. Then Chris was approached about helping launch a new station in Los Angeles that eventually would become 93.5FM KDAY, where he was the Assistant Program Director/Music Director and early afternoon jock. After that Blazin 98.9FM XMOR in San Diego got him to do the night show, which he grew from soon and found great success hosting the Morning Show until the station later changed formats.
Chris loves making a positive impact in his radio market, encouraging students and using the platform to influence the youth by volunteering as a public speaker at schools for career days and mentor groups. He also loves serving food at soup kitchens and getting to see people smile while sharing a few moments or a laugh with someone who's down on their luck. Loos plays the piano, taught himself the guitar, and may have a slight Sneaker addiction.
